I recently saw a Twitter post which said "6.15% Accumulation", which to me and I'm sure most of the investing public would automatically think that this means interest or investment return. In actuality, this figure was a "cap" on a particular indexed annuity which is not what a policy holder earns, instead it is the "maximum potential return" that a policy holder can earn.
So I'm using this as an opportunity to educate and inform consumers with regards to this terminology. Please also view my videos titled "Debunking the Myths of Annuities" and "How to avoid the Sales Pitch". These short videos were produced to arm you with the questions you should be asking any advisor you speak with and will make you a more confident consumer.
